It is now Dec 9th, 2005. I’ll be 2 years old in just 21 days. Time for a little progress report.
We’ll start with physical stats. I’m now 11kg and 82cm tall instead of just being long (Yes, I can now stand to have my height taken!).
I demonstrated my newly developed running abilities and sense of balance to daddy by running across the bouncing bridge in the play ground. Then, to cap things off, I jumped onto the slide and came down without waiting for daddy. He was so worried that he grabbed me from behind and followed me head-first down the slide with one hand on each side of my waist. I’m also beginning to hop and should soon be able to jump. I think jumping has a lot of possibilities for fun.
My vocabulary has now expanded considerably beyond “mum-mum” in the last 12 months. I can now say many single syllable words such as “This” There” “Pour” and my favourites, “Hot” and “NO”. I also managed to say “Daddy” once upon a time, but, I seem to have forgotten all my two syllable words in the last 3 months.
Daddy’s been trying to get me to say “Yes”. He’s even made up a little song, sung to the tune of jingle bells to try and get me to say “Yes”. It goes like this “Yes yes yes, yes yes yes, pudgy please say yes yes yes. Yes yes yes, Yes yes yes, pudgy please say yes.” Its such an amusing song, but, even more amusing are the lengths to which daddy will get me to say “yes”. I think I’ll string him out abit longer.
He’s also taken to phrasing all questions to me on things I want in a positive way, like “Pudgy, would you some ice-cream now?” But, I always answer by nodding my head, and, flashing a mega-watt smile, even if he’s on the phone, cos some kind soul always answers the phone for me and vocalizes my answers for me as I am only 1 year and 11 months old and still can’t be trusted to pick up the phone for myself.
Daddy seems concerned that I don’t have enough friends. So, at Uncle Chua’s wedding, he introduced me to Uncle Bernard’s son, Brandon. I’ve met Brandon before. He was very nice and offered me toys the last time we met. However, I couldn’t walk then though he could. So, it wasn’t really much fun. This time, though, we’re on a more equal footing. I’m about Brandon’s height and walk and run as well as he did. We did lots of walking around hand in hand but not much talking. I’m sure we’ll remedy that the next time we meet.
