My Odyssey

School's been great and I'm loving everyday of it.

Isabella and Me presenting "In the Barrio" to the class as shared reading. In the Barrio’ is a story that focuses on the community that surrounds the protagonist. He observes the many interesting and peculiar things that are around him and describes them in vivid colour and in his Mexican flavour. We then compared and contrasted the barrio in the reader to our community in the Odyssey. We decided to create a book about our campus and named it ‘In the Odyssey.’ Each picture in this book was taken by us and we used words to explain the picture and how we feel about our ‘barrio’ in the Odyssey

Learning graph the fun way. We have a big floor graph!

This lesson was on Talking Tess ('t') and Golden Girl ('g') at the end of words. We practised auditory discrimination.

Each group used a piece of fabric of our choice to express the movements, pace and tempo of the song. Four music genres were used, namely instrumental, R&B, techno and classical, so we can express and explore each musical characteristic. For my group, it was Pachebel's Cannon.

During the past 4 weeks, we had been involved in a project on two staircases in our campus environment. We set out looking for the best way to create the arrows to indicate the directions for the correct way to walk up and down the stairs safely. We researched books and used the computer to look for signs and arrows they can best employ for the task.

Budding Photographer

We will be going to the Jurong Bird Park next week.

My class would be working on a photo story on the environment using digital photography. We intend to use these captured pictures to put up an exhibition of our Black and White photographs. We will practice our picture composition skills, learn to upload our own pictures, choose our own pictures and use Adobe Photoshop to turn our chosen pictures into black and white. All these will be done with guidance from the teachers, of course.

This is a chance to showcase our creative expression through this new artistic art form.

I'm so glad to have joined Odyssey.... the learning environment and teaching style is a lot more suitable for me here as compared to Etonhouse.

I'm looking forward to the field trip. Will upload some pictures here soon :)

Up North and down South

Our family holidays are confirmed - well at least until July, that is! We are planning it well ahead of time this year so that it will not clash with my Primary One registration and Daddie's work. This will be the the last year where i'm allowed to skip school, so we are taking this opportunity to see the world.

Early April, we will be heading North to China to visit the Jiuzhaigou valley. Daddie won't be coming with us on this trip though coz he has work to do in Singapore. So it will be a holiday for me, jamie, mommie, fatty gramps and Auntie Susan Po's family.

What I'm looking forward to the most, is the July holiday... we are travelling south to the newest country in the world - New Zealand! I've already made known to my follks what i want to do during that 10 days holiday. I want to make snow angels, go snowflake fishing, horseback riding and milk some cows (something i missed in Korea). Mommie and Daddie are hoping to go on a Lord of the Rings trail and take a scenic train ride from Christchurch to Greymouth. We have not planned out the itinerary yet but we are certain we want to stay in these 2 resorts!

The Hermitage - On Mt Cook - Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

The Edgewater Resort
- Lakeside accomodation... i want to feed some ducks from the room balcony!
